‘Art teaches nothing, except the significance of life...’
-Henry Miller
I had read in my school years, that millions of years ago our planet was virtually a simple landmass grouped together as one giant island floating around the ocean-- it was called Pangea.Looking at the present, I cannot help but wonder what effect it would have if our planet had not broken up... Would we all be citizens unified under one country? Society builds barriers and uses rivers, lakes and mountains to create artificial divides among fellow humans. We grow so accustomed to these barriers that we often forget the joy of being human. Our reality is very much influenced by our perceptions of ‘thinking’ we are all different-- we grow oblivious to the common thread which lies behind different shapes and colors of our humanity. The disparities between those who ‘have’ and those who ‘have not’ fuels a cycle of discontent which leaches our society of its compassion. I see the differences spread around us of people who suffer in the hands of oppressors and those under cruel or unfair circumstances of life. Reflecting upon these realities makes my soul search for ways to bring joy and hope to at least the people around me-- as an artist, that is what inspires me. I dream of characters and scenarios where the central theme is the process of a joyous intervention. |
